Flower Bulb Camper Route
A new camper route has been established by flower bulb growers. Four flower bulb and tuber growers are launching a new route for motorhome travelers in the region of Holland Above Amsterdam. This unique collaboration offers motorhome guests from all over the world the opportunity to stay for a midweek or week at the farms of bulb and tuber growers. Motorhome travelers have never been so close to the flower bulb fields before.
Camping Among the Tulips
The route starts at Camping de Gouwe Stek (Bovenkarspel). Karin and Michiel welcome you to their campsite, located in a beautiful green area with many tulip fields. Here, the peonies bloom in May/June.
Next, head towards Camperplaats de Tulpentuin (Slootdorp) at the tulip nursery of Siem and Sandra Munster. Sandra is happy to give guests a tour of the nursery, and when the fields are in bloom, she welcomes you to take a walk right through the blooming tulips.
Continue the route to Camping Duinzoomhoeve (Julianadorp), a farm campsite at the bulb-growing business of the Romar family. Mary and her daughter Suzan do everything they can to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. In 2022, the campsite was named the ANWB Camping of the Year.
The next stop is Camperplaats Molen de Hoop (’t Zand), located right in the middle of the North Holland flower bulb region. A beautiful starting point for a cycling route. Be sure to take the Stolpen Route!
The route ends at Camping Boven het Maaiveld (Hoogwoud), situated in the countryside of West Friesland, surrounded by many tulip fields. Enjoy the natural surroundings with Kees and Janneke, or as they say, "camping for paradise birds!"
Opening Times and Facilities
The motorhome sites along the flower bulb route are open from mid-April to November 1st, while De Gouwe Stek and De Tulpentuin are open year-round for motorhomes. All motorhome sites offer excellent facilities such as water, electricity, showers, toilets, WiFi, and disposal points for toilets and wastewater. The growers warmly welcome guests to their businesses and share all about their products: flower bulbs and tubers. During your stay at the bulb growers' farms, you will discover that each season is different. In spring, the blooming bulb fields; in summer, the harvest season with bulb peeling in the barns; and in autumn, the planting of the bulbs in the fields. The bulb growers live with the seasons and are happy to share this experience with their guests.
